Ain’t Nothing Creative There
Satan has no creative ability.
The ultimate in creativity is the ability to create something out of nothing. Only God can do that.
We as humans have the ability to create, using the materials God has given us. We’re creative because we’re made in his image.
Satan would like to convince us of his creativity.
So, what can Satan do?
Have you considered making a deal with Satan for something? Don’t fall for it. You think you might be getting what you want, but you won’t, and you can’t. Those are empty promises. In reality, you’re being played by playing yourself. Although Satan can’t create, he certainly can lie, and his lies will be in tune with what resonates in you.
So, what can Satan do?
Have you ever painted something you really liked, and then stuck it in the back of a closet, or, worse, stuck your fist through it?
Ever write a story, print it out, read it, and throw it away, burying it and never touching it again?
What artistic work have you given life to, only to see it die? Perhaps slowly. Perhaps quickly.
What kind of things do we see Satan doing in the Bible? See if you can sense something here, from the Old Testament book of Job…
Job 1:9-11 “Does Job fear God for nothing?” Satan replied. “Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land. But now stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face.”
Job had been blessed by God. Satan only wants to destroy that blessing, which is what he is constantly doing with us.
Is that a demonstration of creativty?
Or, these verses from the New Testament book of Mark…
Mark 4:15: Some people are like seed along the path, where the word is sown. As soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in them.
In this parable, there is One who is sewing life and growth. Then there’s Satan, bending over to pick at the ground. Clawing away at life, growth, creativity.
